Packaging for the Planet
Our packaging isn't static because the world isn't static—better materials emerge, smarter solutions surface, and we adapt accordingly. This isn't indecision; it's intentional progress. We're inspired by a simple philosophy: packaging should be utilitarian and done responsibly, nothing more, nothing less.
Our approach to skincare is utilitarian; we don't believe in products for products' sake, and we certainly don't believe in ostentatious packaging that will outlive all of us in a landfill. As a matter of fact, we're nearly plastic-free with most of our products made from recyclable or compostable materials. When we discover a better way to protect what's inside while protecting what's outside, we make the switch.
What we do is powered by the community, and every packaging iteration reflects our commitment to doing better. We hope to set an example for the rest of the industry to be smarter and more considerate when it comes to their supply chain, packaging, and how we do business.
Most of our products are packaged in Vivomer, a bio-based material developed by our main packaging partner, Shellworks. Like us, they believe that innovation and responsibility go hand in hand. Their technology represents the kind of forward-thinking we champion. You can read more about our partnership in our journal entry here.
PACKAGING
We believe that packaging should reflect a deeper purpose beyond mere aesthetics.
If your packaging isn't listed here, don't bin it without checking first. Contact our customer care team, and they'll walk you through the proper disposal method, because doing right by the planet shouldn't require guesswork.
Our packing peanuts are GMO-free, polystyrene-free and are designed to wash away. Made from cornstarch, they dissolve in seawater, freshwater, or in your home compost.
Vivomer is a 100% vegan material designed to break down naturally. Simply rinse it and add it to your home compost, where it will fully break down within 12 months under normal composting conditions.
Alternatively, you can collect a few of your used Vivomer pots and send them back to our headquarters in Margate, where we'll add them to our composting system to help improve our soil health. Contact our customer care team for a free prepaid return label (UK addresses only) to take advantage of this circular approach to packaging.
Note: Do not place this material in your home recycling bins as they are designed for composting, not traditional recycling processes. If you don't have access to home composting and are unable to get the packaging back to us, you can dispose of the packaging with your regular waste, as the materials are safe for incineration and will naturally decompose in landfills over time at the same rate as cellulose without leaving microplastics in the environment.
As of September 2025, our 30mL Algae Plump Serum bottles are 100% compostable. This means that the bottle and pipette/ dropper are made entirely from Vivomer.
Our goal is for the whole skincare range to be compostable, and you will see more of our products transition to 100% compostable packaging in the next year.
In the meantime, our oil/ serum bottles apart from Algae Plump Serum have compostable Vivomer bottles, but the lids and droppers are classified as 07 - Other (Plastic). Customers should check with their local council to see if they accept this material in their recycling. If not, you are welcome to return the pipettes to us and we would be happy to recycle them.
For all Vivomer components, follow the same disposal instructions as the Vivomer pots above.

Produced by our refill partner, refill pouches are made from a multi-layered film of bio-polymer, metallised cellulose and compostable adhesive. Simply rinse it and dispose of it in your home compost, where it will break down within 34 weeks under normal composting conditions. If you are without garden waste or don’t have access to home composting, dispose of it with your regular waste, as during incineration, zero noxious gases will be emitted. Do not place these materials in your recycling bin as they are designed for composting, not traditional recycling processes.

The translucent sleeves are made of Sylvicta, a translucent barrier paper. The paper is certified as fully home compostable and breaks down within 4 weeks in the correct environment. It is also fully recyclable in conventional recycling streams.
The candle vessels can be reused or recycled with your glass recycling at home.
We're currently reviewing our parfum packaging, as we see great room for innovation in this area. At the moment, the aluminium lids are crimped onto the bottles, so the glass parfum bottles cannot be added to your recycling as is. We welcome you to return your empty parfum bottles to us, and we'll reuse or recycle them.
