Fishing nets became our medium for exploring resilience, both in a material and metaphorical sense. As we worked with these discarded materials, they revealed profound lessons about community.

We were determined to work with genuinely rescued nets in their original form, preserving their authentic character rather than sourcing processed fishing net materials. Initially, we reached out to our friend Amalia Puga (@proxecto.bolina) across the shared waters between the UK and Spain for guidance on working with fishing nets. What began as a request for help quickly evolved into something deeper: a true collaboration with someone who understood our vision, adding the invaluable layer of supporting traditional fishing net makers. As we explored recently rescued nets with Amalia, each colour revealed the story of its intended catch; different shades and mesh patterns designed to attract specific species.

Together, through several iterations, online calls, and in-person conversations, we found the perfect one: that beautiful shade between red and brown with ideal thickness and weight and mesh openings sized perfectly for our products, a water bottle, or a piece of fruit. We preserved its authentic character while adding hand-stitched reinforcements by traditional net-makers, a secure cotton zipper, and an adjustable rope that transforms it into either a crossbody or shoulder carry.

You might find inconsistencies between each bag, but working with reclaimed materials adds that element of uniqueness. We embrace these variations and accept that it requires significantly more time than conventional sourcing. But supporting communities that might otherwise be overlooked felt far more valuable than convenience.

This philosophy of thoughtful sourcing extended to every element of the collection. The skincare products we've chosen work in harmony with this ethos; the Prebiotic Cleansing Balm gently melts away makeup, oils and build-up, preparing your skin before adding the Eco Marine Cream to your routine.

Beyond the tangible products, this collection captures the essence of slow, mindful creation; the kind that honours both process and place while cultivating balance and resilience. The postcards included offer glimpses behind the scenes of the seaside town where your bag was crafted, connecting you to the places and people who made this collaboration possible.

Every element in this box carries forward the same philosophy: thoughtful choices that honour both people and the planet, creating something that's as much about the journey as the destination.
